Network Team Lead, Midlands, £50,000 - £65,000
This is a global business with a recognisable global brand, investing heavily in the latest technology.
Your role will be to provide detailed technical skills and resources needed to support the ongoing operation of Network services including Internationally. The Network Team Lead will play an important role in the design, testing, release and improvement of IT Network Services as well as running a network team.
A large part of the Network Team Lead role will also be managing the Network Team including conducting regular performance management meetings and developing the team.
Specific responsibilities of the Network Team Lead:
• Provide Hands-on assistance to the daily tasks, responsibilities and services provided by the team
• Provides assistance with management of key suppliers ensuring they provide agreed levels of service
• Oversee the successful execution, monitoring of the operational activities in the Network infrastructure, including International, and ensuring that processes are running with optimal efficiency also standards and polices are adhered to
• Defining central observation and monitoring capability and then using those consoles to exercise monitoring and control activities feeding into Capacity Management processes
• Facilities Management of the physical IT Environment the Data Centres and recovery sites
• Assist and provide technical support and input into large-scale projects, e.g. data centre consolidation or network consolidation projects
• Initial planning and overseeing the installation of new networks/network components; maintenance and upgrades to the physical network infrastructure through Service Design and Service Transition
• Implementing, monitoring and maintaining Intrusion Detection Systems on behalf of Information Security Management. They will also be responsible for ensuring that there is no denial of service to legitimate users of the network.
• Understand and manage the budgeting and cost elements of the team and the detailed breakdown of components
• Introduce customer service cultural change to Network Operations
Essential skills/attributes
• Extensive proven experience of managing a Network Operations team
• Strong communication (verbal/written) and influencing skills, with an ability to manage internal and external relationships up to senior levels of management
• Effective team building skills that encourages and creates an environment that promotes openness, honesty and team work through regular effective communication sessions
• Excellent technical knowledge (Cisco)
• Good working knowledge of ITIL processes
• Demonstrates the skills and abilities to conduct performance reviews and appraisals with staff
• CCNP Qualified
